Here lately, one of the biggest changes that have occurred in the UK is the gambling laws. The new laws are much more lenient than ever before. The only problem with that is that they are causing people to have problems with gambling addictions and it is also causing the smaller bingo clubs to close their doors.
The reason this is happening is because after a report recommended easier laws in the UK, the country made the changes it suggested, such as allowing the games that were considered “hard” to be included in the clubs where “soft” games are played especially bingo. The bingo community is feeling the sting like never before. Additionally there is the fear that punters will be tempted to play these harder games until they have the addiction problem.
Another change is that there will be all night betting, alcohol and adult entertainment which will have more people spending money they clearly do not have because gambling is readily accessible to those who have this gambling addiction problem.
For a long time the UK required that people sign up to be a member of the Bingo clubs as well as the casinos with bingo. This was to be done a full day in advanced so people had time to consider their budget and how bingo fit into it. Now it is easier to get into one of these clubs on a whim, even those who may have addiction problems and then they will be able to play the harder games in this facility rather than travelling to the casino.
Some feel that with these changes the UK will not only have a much higher addiction rate, but it will also have more broken homes, and eventually a much higher crime rate as well. The loss of the United Kingdom family and the loss of the Bingo clubs as they were known in the past are now quite possible. In fact, in the past the bingo establishment was the social venue and an important place for adults to meet and enjoy each other’s company while playing friendly games, and now they will be forever changed with these new laws.
Now with the new laws and changes taking effect, the bingo clubs throughout the UK are feeling the pinch of this new legislature. They must pay higher taxes and must provide treatment programs for people who have addiction programs from the hard games even if their establishments opts not to carry those machines. The future of the bingo playing clubs in the UK seems very bleak at this time and with the new laws.
